Mixed Media Artist

Informed by drawing, playing and experimenting, Sam makes sculptures, drawings and collages. The colour, movement and diverse quirkiness of the fragile gardens of the seas are her inspiration.

Sam’s practice is centred around the tactile process of manipulating and stitching into a variety of media; juxtaposing contrasting textures to construct and layer. She is compelled to collect, combine and work into diverse materials.

Sam also runs art and textile clubs for kids and adults, there will be an opportunity to see some of the creative work from these clubs and workshops.

Painter / Jeweller

Shalini describes herself as a ‘Creative Experimentalist.’ She says, ‘For me creativity is a journey of experimentation and exploration. The process is as important as the end result. Whether it’s painting, digital design or jewellery making, I rarely start with a preconceived idea. I like to see where the material and momentum take me.’

Talking about her work Shalini says, ‘As a contemporary artist, I enjoy still life, abstract, figurative, landscape work and stylised portraiture. In my still life paintings, I like playing with intense areas of light and shade and contrasting that with the subtlety of translucent objects like glass vases and ornaments. Recently I have found old doors very interesting subjects to paint. As an artist I find the intriguing duality of what lies beyond or what lies within fascinating. Capturing the character and personality of an old weather-beaten door is like portraiture. Every scar, scrape, groove and ornament provide endless opportunity for visual story telling.

I use a mix of acrylic paint, liquid charcoal, graphite pencil and high pigment inks to create textural and visual layering in my paintings. I also work in watercolour and gouache.’

Shalini is passionate about design and has a love for all things handmade, jewellery being one of them. Shalini has created her own jewellery brand called HUTKE – a collection of statement gemstone jewellery. Each piece is original and handmade to order in limited edition. Shalini enjoys creating bespoke statement pieces and describes her jewellery as ‘Wearable Art’.

As a super creative all rounder and now an award winning artist, Khilna is deeply passionate about the arts and creates abstracts, illustrations and textured resin and crystal pieces. Recently winning Highly Commended for the Arts and Culture Category at the She Awards 2024 and Inspiring Oshwals in her community – 2023,

Inspiration comes from everyday life, nature, texture and water.

Her recent collection has been inspired by water masses around the world. Using resin as its finish looks like water. Incorporating healing crystals and infusing reiki into her artwork, creating truly mesmerizing, evocative, healing art.

Khilna can create that special piece for you, to tie your interiors together. Her pieces have sold her art to lawyers, accountants, healers and even gone global with work reaching the US, Canada and Kenya.

Raising money for charity is very important and Khilna does this through art auctions, sales and workshops.

Khilna will be doing a resin demonstration, Monday 10th June, 3pm. If you would like to attend, please book https://www.artbykhilnashah.com/workshops/p/resinartdemo

Sculptor, Mixed Media

I would describe myself as a city dwelling country girl – whilst spending many years working in London following a career in publishing design, as a farmer’s daughter my heart is fuelled by all things natural and hand crafted. I work from my cabin studio, next to an unkempt plant and creature filled pond at the bottom of my garden, I am both calmed and driven by the natural beauty that surrounds me.

As an experienced designer and art director, I have worked across a broad range of magazines over the years – from client-based contract publishing to fast paced newspaper weeklies, from glossy interior monthlies to glamorous haute-couture and stylish textile specials.

After a decade of raising a family and exploring other areas of art and design, such as print making and ceramics, I now have the privilege of working with, and nurturing, the creative aspiration of pupils at several private schools. What better combination to inspire me than growing these budding creative seeds simultaneously!

Painter

Born and raised in India, Smita has experienced ancient roots and vibrant culture closely, sparking interest in art very early on. Her love for painting and colors since childhood only got deeper by internalizing the various art forms in the country as she traveled around, read & learnt about them.

She pursued a Masters in Fine Arts to help learn some intricacies. Smita says – Art is a very powerful tool. It tells stories without speaking a word. It can evoke a tsunami of emotions in your heart or can calm and relax your mind. It not only opens up creativity and imagination, but also helps develop focus and concentration. Her paintings are her best friends, philosophers and guides and she enjoys every moment when she has a brush in hand. She primarily draws inspiration from nature, spiritualism and women. These subjects have immense depth and are close to her heart. Most of her paintings are mixed media; She experiments with textures, layers, inks, lines, patterns to create a unique piece each time.

She has been painting for 18 years. Paintings motivate me constantly to live my dream – creating art and spreading my wings on canvas , she says. Painting is love, work, play, meditation and prayer for her.

Ceramicist / Woodwork

Studio potters Adamina and Adrian aim to create tableware and cookware that is both beautiful and functional. They love an earthy modern rustic feel and let the beauty of wood and earth shine through in their products.

All ceramics are hand thrown by Adamina in their ceramics studio on a potters wheel and glazes are hand mixed to their own recipes. They use both electric and gas kiln to fire their work.

All their woodwork is made in their workshop by Adrian from sustainably sourced wood. Much of the wood has been sourced from Adamina’s grandmothers’s orchard in Resko, Poland
